Every Little Bit Helps

Blog the Change      We have it pretty good here at Casa Prudence, but I remember where I came from. Me and my litter mates were rescued from a Georgia kill shelter, all suffering from Parvo. Most rescues would have considered us lost causes, but Eleventh Hour Rescue and it's team came through and saved us!
Mom works full time, and always seems busy. But when she read a post on Facebook a couple of weeks ago about a doggie transport, she thought that maybe she could help out. A few pups were making their way to their furever homes, with stops along the way, from Birmingham, Alabama to Brattleboro, Vermont. Luckily, a leg of the trip for the pups was from Allentown, Pennsylvania to Paramus, New Jersey. So she contacted the organizer and was emailed the particulars. It's amazing the detail and planning that goes into these transports! Her mission was to pick up Eve, a sweet dachshund mix with mobility issues and Max, a 4 month old dachshund puppy.
Since it was cold, she packed a few fleeces into the car, along with paper towels. Our buddy Denise came along to help out. She met Celeste in Allentown for the pickup, who gave her lots of tips for future transports, including always bring water, bowl, treats and give the pups a chance for a walk.

Next stop, Paramus, New Jersey! My friend Denise kept the two pups warm in the back seat, while they shared lots of kisses. I'm sort of a big dog, so being with small dogs was a real treat *shaking head* for the people.
In Paramus, the pups were transferred to Denise and her husband, for the leg to Connecticut!

Mom was so happy to be able to be a part of this and is looking furward to more transports in the future. Kudos to the rescues and to the people that organize these and to all the drivers that make them a success and that help save lives. I know she's looking furward to doing another one (as long as she doesn't get any big ideas about bringing anybody home, bol!).
Many thanks to Kathleen Hamilton and All American Dachshund Rescue for their hard work arranging these transports and finding our pals their furever homes!
This just goes to show you buddies, even mom can make the time to help be the change fur pups in need. She's so glad that she did!
   Thanks fur stopping by!

Mischevious Monday (& Everyday)!

Hi buddies! What a weekend we had at Chez Prudence! I've got mom thinking I'm going through my second pupppyhood, BOL!
I've been trying so hard not to help the kitties finish their food, really! So of course I needed to focus my skills at other things.... So I chewed the remote.... Again.
But the highlight of our weekend was when I helped myself to the pork in the crock pot. I've never heard a shriek like that from mom before! She stepped out to the store, leaving me sleeping on the couch. Silly lady, she knows that I'm a scent hound! What was she thinking?

She came home to the crock pot on the floor, with the insert broken. Oh, did I mention the pork? It was delicious (what I had of it)! Of course she was concerned that I might have been burnt or scalded by the contents, but I was pretty careful. It was pretty sad watching her throw it out. I offered to help with the clean up, but for some reason, she didn't think that was such a great idea *sigh*.
So no more slow cooking here fur a while, at least not while I'm home alone!
Thanks fur stopping by!

And thank you Snoopy, for hosting the Monday Mischief Pet Blog Hop!

It's A New Year!

Happy New Year pals!
The new year represents a chance to start fresh, to consider how we can be better beings, do better things! So because mom likes lists, here's mine.
  • I'll do my best to listen when I'm called. It's not easy being a hound you know....
  • I'll try very hard not to beat the kitties to their cat food *shaking head, whispers* mom thinks the cat food is like doggy crack to me, whatever that is.
  •  As hard as it's going to be, I'll really try not to dig in the trash....
Mom has a list too, she wants to be better organized in the new year, to get on track with her business plans and to better keep our blog updated too!
I think between the two of us, we can make 2013 an even better year!
Barooo buddies, thanks fur stopping by!
