BarkWorld Blast Baby!

Well buddies, I can report that mom's trip to this year's BarkWorld Social Media Expo was a blast!

We've (well, she does bring "flat Prudence" with her, BOL!) attended every previous BarkWorld but this time we went as an Ambassador for Rachael Ray's Nutrish®!

Mom loves Atlanta and loves seeing all her friends, new and old! It's so great to attend to be able to meet so many of our online friends in person (& furson too)!

Our pal @GeorgeTheDuck made a soft landing on @CarmaPoodale!

After the keynotes, the sessions and networking came the pawties! The highlight of the weekend was the Nutrish® Block Party!

Besides the wonderful food, the first 50 guest were able to paint a ceramic "nom" bowl fur their pet! What a great idea!

There were lots of Nutrish® samples for the guests to take home with them and
treats for the doggy guests too!

Everyone had a terrific time designing and painting their dishes. Mom was amazed at the talent in the room! Once finished, they'll be baked and shipped to their owners.

Before we forget,  here's a link fur a Nutrish® coupon pals!

Thanks fur stopping by buddies!

Now fur the record, this post is sponsored by Rachael Ray Nutrish®. All thoughts and opinions are our own.  As always, thank you for reading and supporting our sponsors!

Thankful Thursday!

Hi buddies!
Wow! We heard some great news about one of the coonhounds we featured on the Tuesday's Tails Blog Hop! Sweet Charlie has found his furever home! Thank you Ken W2KB and Eleventh Hour Rescue!

Here's the comment left from Ken W2KB "Charlie traveled to NJ from Georgia over the weekend at my request and I adopted him Monday night. He is a fine southern gentleman! :-)".

Now hopefully we'll hear some good news about dear Nella!

Since we're giving thanks today, mom needs to thank Klout and Merrick Pet Care for sending us a Perk for our kitties!

We received the Merrick Purrfect Bistro and mom was blown away by how nicely it was packaged!

Inside was a sample of their dried food, 2 cans of grain free wet food, a couple cute of bamboo plates and spork. Mom thinks that the bamboo is purrfect for Wren & Sparrow. She's sure that there's a bit of Bombay in those two!

Our kitties loved their noms! Mom should have taken pictures, *shaking coonhound head*.

Also included were several $4 coupons for a bag of Merrick Purrfect Bistro. Even with all the kitties here right now, we'll never be able to use them all before the December expiration date, we'd love to share some with our readers! So if you have kitties or know someone that does, just leave a comment and we'll randomly select 5 winners after midnight Saturday, October 5th!
Thanks PepiSmart Dog for hosting the blog hop and thank you all for stopping by!

Tuesday's Tails!

The Tuesday's Tails Blog hop features shelter pets, all waiting for their forever homes. Please consider featuring a cat, dog or any pet at your local shelter on your blog and join the hop! Sharing these friends will certainly improve their chances of being adopted!
Thanks Dogs 'N Pawz for hosting the hop, in doing so, honoring Princess Phe!

This week we'd like to introduce you to a couple of Treeing Walker Coonhounds from my "alma matre" Eleventh Hour Rescue!

First up is Charlie, a sweet 6 year old. Just take a look at him! He could be my brother from another mother!

Charlie gets along great with kids, people and other dogs. Unfortunately he was trained to tree racoons, so he wouldn't be good in a home with cats. From his posting "Charlie will be neutered, vaccinated and heart worm tested prior to placement in his forever home.  Previous hound experience is a plus.  Charlie is an absolutely WONDERFUL, gentle soul and would make a great companion for someone who loves a good hound dog." My paws are crossed that someone will fall in love with this fellow!

Next we'd like you to meet Nella!

She's a wonderfully trained 1 year old who didn't have it so easy in the beginning. She's very smart (like me!), housebroken and gets along great with other dogs!

If you have room in your heart and home for either of these coonhounds, please visit the Eleventh Hour Rescue site to fill out an application. You can also email Eleventh Hour at EleventhHrRescue@aol.com or give them a call at 973-664-0865.

Meanwhile at Chez Prudence, mom's still trying to place those kittens that someone "left" fur us last week. She knows that the sooner we can get them into a rescue or foster, the better their chances will be to get adopted!  Hopefully we can find someplace ASAP! I love my sisfur and brofur kitties, but I'm already outnumbered, barooooo!
Thanks fur stopping by buddies!

Tuesday's Tails, A Day Late!

Hi Buddies!

Life here at Chez Prudence has been crazier than normal, and this time it's not MY fault! That's right pals!
We're a day late with our Tuesday's Tails. But after you've met our adoptable kitties MaiTai and Julep, please read on *shaking coonhound head*.

The Tuesday's Tails Blog hop features shelter pets, all waiting for their forever homes. Please consider featuring a cat, dog or any pet at your local shelter on your blog and join the hop! Sharing these friends will certainly improve their chances of being adopted!

This week we'd like to introduce you to MaiTai and Julip!

These cuties arrived at the shelter at about 2 months old. Because they didn't have any human contact before then, they were very frightened of people. They went into foster care and received a lot of attention so now they're less afraid, but still cautious.
From their Petfinder page: Mai Tai and Julep are "TOTALLY devoted to each other; they cuddle together constantly and they especially enjoy lounging in the hammock in their kitty crate. While it might be a lot to ask of a prospective adopter, these girls MUST be adopted together. And they need to be adopted by someone with a great deal of patience and prior experience with shy cats. If someone had a home office or a workshop where these two cats could cohabit without having a lot of interaction expected of them at first, that would be ideal.
"Julep, the more trusting of the two, is a lovely soft gray tabby. Her sister MaiTai is what we call a Tabico - a tabby with orange running through her coat."
They're both spayed and up to date with their shots. For more information on MaiTai and Julep, email Friends of Linden's Animals at folasinfo@gmail.com or visit the Friends Of Linden Animals website.

Now for what's happening at my house!

Yesterday morning I was greeted by three kittens at my side door as I was about to go out! These guys wanted to get into my house and they weren't afraid of me at all! Mom got me back inside so she could see who these "visitors" were....
Well, she found a cardboard box at the gate to our yard with a plastic container of food. Looks like someone decided we needed even more kitties! Barooooo! I'm out numbered already here!

Mom gathered them up and put them all into one of pet carriers and gave them some water. She posted to FaceBook and sent tweets. She contacted a few rescues and messaged others on FaceBook. We haven't been able to place them yet, but thankfully got lots of great information. Our twitter friends did a lot of retweeting fur us also. So mom's going to be busy reaching out to rescues in our area. The few that she heard  back from are full, so please keep your paws crossed!

Thanks fur stopping by pals!

Tuesday's Tails!

Hi Buddies!

The Tuesday's Tails Blog hop features shelter pets, all waiting for their forever homes. Please consider featuring a cat, dog or any pet at your local shelter on your blog and join the hop! Sharing these friends will certainly improve their chances of being adopted!
Thanks Carma Poodale for hosting this week's hop!

First the good news! Charlotte, the Coonhound we featured in last week's blog hop has found her furever family! Baroooo!

So, here's hoping that this week all of the pets on the Tuesday's Tails Hop have the same good luck!

This week we'd like you to meet Sonny, as sweet coonhound/lab mix, being fostered by Homeless Hearts Dog Rescue in Somerset, NJ.

Quoting from Sonny's page:
"Poor, sweet Sonny really needs a break--he’s had a rough life.  Sonny weighs 61 lbs and is a lab/coonhound mix.  His 90 year old owner has just gone into a nursing home with an infected, inoperable hole in his heart. Completely overwhelmed by his situation, he planned to just put sweet Sonny down but, thankfully, a kind-hearted neighbor couldn’t see that happen and took him into temporary foster care with her and her two dogs in Manhattan.
"Here is Sonny’s story:  Poor Sonny was shot as a baby and left on the side of the road in Georgia. He had to have his left rear leg amputated as a result of the gun-shot wound and was then adopted by his 90 year old owner as a pup.  Although he is missing a rear leg, that doesn't slow him down and he gets around just fine.  Don’t mistake Sonny’s 3-legged stature for special-needs--he’s just special!
"According to his vet and medical records, Sonny is very healthy. He’s 5 - 7 years old, neutered, housebroken and up to date on his shots."

Sonny gets along with other dogs and people. His foster says that he's loves long walks and is very relaxed in her apartment.
So, if you have room in your heart and home for this sweetheart, please email the Homeless Hearts Dog Rescue at Gone2TheDawgz@yahoo.com and request an application for adoption.

A Very Thankful Thursday!

Hi buddies!

While at BarkWorld this summer, mom had a chance to speak with representatives from 2 Million Dogs 2 Miles, Inc. This is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to discovering the "common links between canine and human cancers and the causes of these cancers through comparative oncology research."

This is a very important topic for us, as mom lost her Matilda to cancer before I came along. So last spring, when mom noticed a lump on my side, off we went to my Vet. After our visit, he reassured mom that it was just a fatty mass. Phew!
Thanks to the good people at 2 Million Dogs 2 Miles, we have a list of the 10 "L's" that can be the early warning signs of canine cancer:
  • Lumps
  • Lesions
  • Lameness
  • Appetite Loss
  • Lethargy
  • Weight Loss
  • Loud Odor
  • Loss of Bodily Functions
  • BLoody Discharge
  • Labored Breathing
If you see any of these symptoms, please visit your veterinarian as soon as possible.

To learn more about the Foundation and all that they do, please visit their website

We really do have so much to be thankful for, including you!
Thanks fur stopping by!

Hi Buddies!

Thanks Dogs'N Pawz for hosting!

Today we'd like to introduce you to Charlotte!

You know we're crazy about coonhounds here at Chez Prudence, so when mom saw Charlotte, we needed to share her.
A sweet 4 year old coonhound/beagle mix, she's had a rough start to her life. Fortunately, Charlotte was pulled from a kill-shelter in Mississippi and is being taken care of by the good people at One Step Closer Animal Rescue (O.S.C.A.R.), Sparta, NJ.
Charlotte is neutered and is up to date with her shots. For more information, or to fill out an application, please visit the One Step Closer Animal Rescue site or send an email to OSCARRescue@yahoo.com.
