A New Chapter

Many of you know that Prudence passed on last October. I still haven't been able to put her loss into words, as if then I would be admitting that she really is gone. She was such a presence and inspired so much of what I've come to do over these several years. I know she'll always be with me in spirit and hopefully soon another coonhound will come into my life. I do know that Pru left big paw prints to fill, as she's left those same paw prints on my soul.

I've decided to keep the blog up in her memory, and over the next few weeks, I'll be introducing you to some of the kitties that share our home. I know they miss her too but it's going to be interesting to see how they react to a new canine pal. I have a few reviews to post in the meantime so be on the lookout for those and I'll also be writing about shelter pets and rescue transports.

There will be a bit of an evolution to this, as I'll also be sharing pictures and stories of this year's gardening adventures and some crafting thrown into the mix!

Perhaps this will be the summer that the chicken coop gets assembled? We'll see!

As Prudence would say "thanks fur stopping by pals"!

Nashville, Finally!

Hi buddies!
Mom made it to BlogPaws 2015!
This year the conference is being held in Nashville, Tennessee. Since she's a little geographically challenged, she figured it might be a fun drive. Well, 14 plus hours later, she's busy patting herself on the back for making her longest road trip ever!

It wasn't so bad, she had good company with the Stunning Cathy Keisha's TW navigating, plush CK, Mario and my flat stand in doing some back seat driving.

Of course, I'm staying at my home away from home, the Barker Lounge, but I'll be making sure that she posts all the fun things that comes along this weekend. She's considering making some major changes to our blog, so this weekend she needs to learn as much as she can!

Thanks for stopping by, we'll be blogging more from BlogPaws tomorrow!

I Have Cats ( & a Give Away)!

Hi buddies!
Most of you know that I'm part of a family that includes a few kitties. Mom's very happy that I usually get along with them, and I have to admit, they do keep me on my toes!

Speaking of mom, she attended a book signing at the Clinton Book Shop to see Simon Tofield, the creator of the wonderful (according to her) "Simon's Cat" videos and Francesco Marciuliano, the author of "I Could Pee on This - And Other Cat Poems" and the "Sally Forth" comic strip.

(The moderator, Francesco Marciuliano and Simon Tofield)
She had a great time! The two discussed how their careers began and how they became successful at doing what they love. Most impressive was their innate understanding of cats. I still can't figure my feline siblings out!

After a "Q & A" session, Simon demonstrated his technique for drawing the Cat and his other characters. Francesco read a couple of his poems, which mom thought were hilarious! *Shaking coonhound head* silly, I know!

Now for the good news! To celebrate the joys of sharing our lives with kitties, mom bought an extra copy of Simon's latest book "Simon's Cat in Kitten Chaos" to give away to one lucky winner!

(She asked him to sign it "Friend of Prudence" and he even sketched a laughing dog!)

 Thanks fur stopping by buddies!

Now for the fine print: We received no compensation for this post. Mom bought the book for the purpose of giving it away to one of our readers.

Rootin' Tootin' Tuesday!

Mom's getting pretty psyched about her upcoming trip to BarkWorld! She's been making her lists (she's a bit of a kook about lists):
  • Registration, check!
  • Flight arranged, check!
  • Hotel plans, check!
She's downloaded the BW Mobile App fur both her ipad and iphone so she'll be able to keep up with the sessions and speakers!
One of the sessions on her list that she's looking forward to is the Pet Food Network All Stars Kim Clune and Amy Burkert. They will be doing cooking demos, making healthy treats fur dogs and kitties, inspired by the Honest Kitchen. Mom makes a lot of my treats, so she's pretty psyched about this! Other sessions include Digital Scrapbooking, Pet CPR & Emergency Preparedness. There's so much to learn , and we won't even mention the Swag!

And for all of her technical questions, the BarkWorld Genious Squad will be there! Yes, she has a list of questions too! *shaking head*

But one of the things that she's most excited about is......

She's thrilled that the kitties will be represented, barooo!

The very best part of BarkWorld is meeting so many of our on-line buddies, both old and new.

Here I am, hanging with the Shibbering Cheetos and the Hookalopes after the sessions at my first BarkWorld Expo in 2010! Their fans get a little crazy, but who can blame them, BOL!

Thanks fur stopping by buddies!

Labor Day Weekend!

Well buddies, I guess this is the last "official" weekend for Summer 2012, but we're not letting go of summertime yet!
Last week mom visited friends that live in Northwestern New Jersey, lake country! This is the view from their yard! Just look at that lake. And there was a swan family! She's promised that next time I could come along. I can't wait to be on the boat (I think!).
This is Mr. Boots, he lives there too! What a lucky kitty to be able to go in and out as he pleases, as long as someone opens the door! Now it's time fur me to chill in my yard, I love it even 'tho it doesn't have a lake, barooo!
We hope that everyone enjoyed their summer, we're looking furward to a few more summery weekends yet buddies! Thank you to Nip and Bones, Life With Dogs, and Two Little Cavaliers fur hosting and thank you fur stopping by!
